About Barnard General Store

Established in 1832, The Barnard General Store stands as one of Vermont's oldest General Stores. Located on peaceful Silver Lake, the store's rustic wood floors, old fashioned lunch counter, and charming wood stove create a setting that you just can't find anywhere else.

We offer a wide array of groceries, produce, beer & wine, baked goods, fresh meat & seafood, household supplies, and more! Our deli serves breakfast and lunch daily, as well as ice cream (seasonally).

We also sell gasoline (including non-ethanol!) and Blue Rhino propane tanks.

Guess George's Fate Contest

A long standing Barnard tradition! Every year, we place a dummy (George) on the lake. Place your guess as to what day and time he will fall through the ice! Winner will receive half of the money raised. The other half will be donated to the Silver Lake Progressive Club Scholarship Fund, which awards local students with college scholarships every year. There is an option to place an additional donation at the bottom of this submission form. 100% of all the additional donations will go directly to the scholarship fund (not the 50/50 contest).

*please note: If the winning date and time is chosen by multiple people, the $ will be divided equally between the winners.
